Je suis tres fatigue!

This week was really crazy busy. A lot of homework everyday and a lot of disturbing nights. I got a lot of work done, and understood everything I was doing!

Yesterday I came to class late because of a doctor's appointment in the morning. Sat down for about 5 minutes, opened my file for selection 5 on Turing, and then the announcment came for photo retakes. I felt sad I couldn't ask anybody to help me for the rest of the class because I was in the huge line for photo retakes.
Last night it was my little cousin's birthday party! She wanted a few of her older cousins to come and help out in arranging "a really cool birthday party to show my friends how cool my older cousins are", so I felt like I had to be a part of it. I was there since right after I reached home from school, to about 11 at night.

Sadly I couldn't write in my blog last night itself, so I'm doing it right now.

This weekend is jam-packed as well! Hopefully I'll be able to finish all my homework right now, and then have all the fun I want for the rest of the day and Sunday.

Since I don't write in my blogs on weekends, I'd just like to say a huge:
HAAAPPPPPYYYY HAAALLLOOOWEEEENNNN EVVEEERYYYONNNEEE!
^ Yes, I'm aware that that is not the way you spell "Happy Halloween Everyone!", but it is when you're really excited like me!
Bye For Now!

Getting Better?

This week has been quite a good turn out. I worked really hard to understand each concept properly and asked as many questions to avoid any confusions I would have at home while im during my homework. I think I'm trying harder now because I'm getting used to the routine (finally) and I hope I continue to take some real interest in this.

Today my science class went to Rouge Valley so I missed all my classes, but was back for the last 15 mintues of computer science. In that time, I was given a quiz about what we've recentely learned about: selection in programming.

My mom went for the interviews alone because I was really tired and in pain due to my little fall while climbing up a huge, steep hill. Unfortunately I wasn't the only one who slipped or fell down. Anyways, once I came home, I took a nice shower and fell asleep, while my mom went to the interview and heard about my progress in my classes. She told me exactly what my teachers have said and I understand their concerns. I feel that I could do so much better now because my confidence is finally kicking in! I hope I'm able to proove myself fit for IB and I hope I succeed.

Anyways, I'm still feeling a little pain, so I'm going to get some shut-eye again and write tomorrow.

Goodnight!

Selections!

Yesterday's homework was questions 1 and 2 from the selection link on touque.ca. Today we took up our findings and elaborated and how each part of it works in what way. That really helped me to understand what I was actually doing rather than just doing it without any knowledge on it.
Homework for today would be selections 1 - 7! I understand some parts, but others are still a blur. Hopefully I'll be able to go to Mr. Arkin soon and get a little more better understanding of it.

Tomorrow I'm going to be on a trip to Rougue Valley with my science class! It's going to be great! I'm done all my homework, and now I'm going to just relax and let my sleep eventually take over me.

I'll write about my trip tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Bye! <3

Good day!

Today was a really nice, late-start, Tuesday. Even though our ICS class was short, I learnt a lot about the operators, the Boolean expressions, and a few more words for using in Turing.

We were taught about two different operators: arithmetic and relational. We also learnt about program controlling. Have you ever heard about the Boolean expression? Well, it's the different types of operations in the operator. Sounds weird, huh? I thought that too! Program controlling is split into three parts: sequence, selection, and repitition. The one Mr. Arkin elaborated on was selection.

Alot of information written down for today, and now I shall start on my homework!

Ready to learn?

Today about 7 students were late to ICS class this morning. Ofcourse nobody wants to miss this class because it's actually quite interesting. We all have our slow mornings, traffic, bad moods, or emergencies that slow us down and make us late. Personally I will try my best to reach my class more earlier in the morning and I'll be ready to learn.

We learnt about how to trace the execution (desk checking) for our assignments and we were told to practice it at home. I'm confused! I was aware of what we did in class, but I'm not quite sure what "desk checking" really is. Right now I'm trying out what we did in class today on Turing.

More to say tomorrow!

My days have just started...

Mr. Arkin revised our assingments with us today and also showed us how to colour code our programs! It was actually pretty cool to learn about how it works. It was a little confusing (as usual) but it was alright. I'm getting a little quicker in understanding the concept of this now, and I'm on my 3rd question for the input assignment right now and I'm trying my best to do it on my own...

Anyways, it's finally Friday and I'm going to relax a little with my friends soon.

HAPPY WEEKEND <3

Hm...

I have no clue why my yesterday's blog post got deleted, but anywho...
Today was my 'catching up' period and I was able to understand the assignment better. I talked to my classmates and tried to understand each concept.

Anyways, I have alot of homework to do, and I don't feel too well right now. I'll write more tomorrow.

SUPER POWERS!

We got our marks back from Mr.Arkin on how we did for our super-power autobiographies. I didn't do as well as I thought I could've done. I'm atleast glad that I understand the concept of it now, and when I get another chance, I will do much better (hopefully)! Everyone tried their best and that's all that matters: how much you care about what you learn. Mr. Arkin was nice enough to go throught some of the comments he wrote for some people and explained what the situation was.

Homework, homework, homework...

I shall beg your pardon and disappear in thin air to finish my homework!

Late starts = less work !

Today due to a late start AND school pictures, we weren't able to completely finish sharing our ideas on the programming homework from last night. I'm actually still very confused about all of this because of my one week off last week. I tried my best to understand the concept and the homework, but obviously I wasn't able to even start on it.

Right now I'm experimenting with the random notes I have about Turing.

Oh, I'm so confused...

I was away for all of last week which has resulted in me having a confused brain! Today we learnt how to make a converter program. From centimeters - inches, there was alot of in between work to do :P I hardly understood the terms that were being used to create the different elements(?) of the program using Turing. Hopefully I'll catch up real soon and get back onto track.

Right now I need to go outside, so I'll write more tomorrow :)

Programming!

Today we learnt about the keywords we should use in Turing (a program which allows us to create our own programs). The keywords we learned are terms we would generally use to create our program.
For example:
put "hi, my name is zainab!" = hi, my name is zainab (when you click "Run")
put = instructs the computer to move the cursor to the next line and start from the beginning.

Right now I'm very tired and I can't write more. I have a unit test for science tomorrow, so I need a little rest before I sit and study for 5 hours :P

PAARTTTYYY!

We had an awesome party yesterday! Everyone pitched in a little to help make it amazing. Thanks to Mr. Arkin, we enjoyed our free time very much and left class with happy faces.

Party Party Party!

FINNAALLLYYY we're done the HTML and CSS codes and stuff. That was actually some great work. Now we're going to be learning about programming. Personally, I feel that it's going to be a little more complicated than learning about webpage designs. We'll see what happens.

Tomorrow is going to be a great partaaaay for our hard work on our webpages! I can't wait!

*Oh oh! I forgot I left this open and I didn't save it like 5 hours ago. Oh well, I'm really tired right now. Need some good night's rest!

Oh la la, I know how to create jibberish! Actually, my title up there is in something called the Binary Code. It's all the characters of that sentance, put into an 8-bit code using the number 0 and 1. Crazy huh? Yes, and very confusing as well. It took me a long while to actually understand the whole concept properly, but the worksheet Mr. Arking handed out today during class really helped me out.

As usual, I'm polishing up my webpage right now, and then I need to study for a french test, and work hard on a science project!

Oh, Binary Code...

Today we learned about 4 more definitions for words in our Basic Computer Glossary. We also learned how to understand the binary code! I didn't know what it all represented when I saw it like 3 years ago on some news chanel focusing on a technical story, but now thankfully I do. We learned the numbers 1 - 12 (000 0000, 000 0001, and so on). Noting that the lowest number possible is 000 0000, and the highest 111 1111, we were able to find how many unique codes there can be made using this 7-bit code (128). Personally I like it better when our class learns like this because we're able to ask each other questions right away and are able to understand better when Mr. Arkin is teaching us on the spot. While using computers, I've noticed in class it gets a little distracting, but at the same time very helpful (if we use our time wisely).

I'm going to go finish my other homework now :)

Blah, Blah, Blah

I didn't know what to make my title :P Sorry readers!

Today we discussed the proper definitions of a monitor, file, directory, root, secondary storage, primary storage, RAM, ROM, bit, byte, and the binary code. We learned about the diference between how a secondary storage operates, and how a primary storage operates. We also learned about how to calculate the amount of 1s or 0s needed in a binary code for each 'byte'.

Many words, many definitions, many ways of understanding... all equals to some confused faces! As usual, we tried our best to understand each word properly. Personally, I was a little fusturated at how to understand the words. When I got home, I had to revise all the words myself and search them up on the internet to get a more thorough understanding. It's alright, I know it's not only me in the whole class that has to review the words to actually get it. As a class, we're actually getting better each day and getting more confortable with our computer science learning environment. I've made alot of new friends since the beggining of the year, and I feel I've gotten a hang on the IB train ;)

Anyways, I need to finish my homework! I'll be back tomorrow!

Whoops, Forgot Friday :/

On Friday it was my little cousin's birthday and I was busy planning. He's such a cutie! We made a great party and had so much fun.

So for Period A, Mr. Arkin reviewed more words with us and let us write down the definitions. We also had to vote for either Lyssa or Naeem for class rep and congratz to Lyssa for winning :)

Right now I'm finishing up some last minute changes to my webpages; Busy, busy weekend!

Hope to see everyone tomorrow! :D
